Review on ๐ŸŽง Philips Audio Fidelio X2HR Over-Ear Open-Air Headphone with 50mm Drivers (Black) + NeeGo Attachable Microphone - Ideal for Gaming and Communication by Sean Young

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Amazing in almost every way! (Games included!)

The reviewers were right! And these did not disappoint! VERY comfortable ear pads as they are made of memory foam and covered with a velvety material. Handy for long listening or gaming sessions. Even though they are HUGE on my head, someone is 6ft 1in and weighs 155lbs, I have a smaller head and they almost look ridiculous on me haha! xDMusic: I'm by no means an audiophile, but I know good sound and they sound good. with a USB-C DAC plugged into the back of my PC, which helps a little, but still helps a little. I mostly listen to EDM/Bass music with subgenres like: bounce house, electro house, trap, future bass and other similar sounding genres. At first I was partially impressed with the sound out of the box, but I knew that after a week of use, when they're completely broken, I'd be happier. And I was right. A week later these things have softened a bit and the sound signature is what I like. Listening to .FLAC and .WAV music files has become really impressive, especially as they are not yet powered by a dedicated DAC/amp. In general I'm happy with them for what I hear. Bass is tight and there's a subwoofer too, but by being open the sound isn't as boomy as some might like. This can usually be remedied with a headphone amp. Averages are excellent. And the high frequencies are clear, not tinny and not tiring to listen to. Games: I only play competitive FPS games. But mostly Modern Warfare. I saved the "Reference Studio" in game and turned it on and wow the game sounds great! I can hear enemies approaching much farther and with much more detail than with my previous Corsair HS70 "Pro Surround" kit (yeah, okay, Corsair). The included mic is rubbish but compared to buying direct from Philips you get a better price and a free mic which I think someone might find useful. If you want to use them for gaming, please purchase the V-MODA Boom instead of the included or the Wireless Mod-Mic. This one works, but because they're open and the mic has poor isolation, friends can clearly hear echoes that are almost unbearable. Conclusion: music or games, they will satisfy. Especially if you value good-sounding headphones and don't want your typical overpriced "gaming" headset, this isn't anything special. Treat yourself and get it!

Pros
  • Brings joy
Cons
  • You could choose a newer model
