They are 'normal'. I got them because they are longer than what I had. However, and if that's a factor for you, you won't rate it highly, there's no "lip" for points at the end. It's still the same "hill" so there's nothing to "hold the glass". The other one I have rises a bit at the end so you have to move the stem down and then everything is at the same level. No chance of accidentally breaking the last glass on another set - just got it yesterday so I'm hoping it will be something to watch out for!
