Review on Blue Akro-Mils 30230 AkroBins Plastic Storage Bins: Hanging Stacking Containers (11x5x5) - Pack of 12 by Phillip Brown

I couldn't find any reviews with the keyword "spice" to check if they would be suitable for the open shelf before buying replacing my jars with herbs and spices. Since you want to avoid light and heat to extend the life of these items, I thought of these containers we used as a kid in my family's warehouse for our small business. (I wish my parents had sold trash cans with the company decades ago!) The Akro-Mils 30230 trash can, measuring as described, is 11 inches deep, 5 inches wide, and 5 inches high, perfect for a small open space. I have a bookshelf at the end of the kitchen counter. The black baskets prevent much light from reaching the glass sides of the spice jars, although there is some exposure at the front where the mid-height cutout "reach" is (I can attach a wire curtain to the front of my wooden bookshelf to further reduce light exposure .) An Akro-Mils 30230 basket of medium-sized supermarket spice jars fits 10 bottles in a relatively compact manner. Larger jars of "Simply Organic" brand spices (look for similar 6 fl oz bottles sold empty here at Revain, about 2" square and 4.5" tall; I bought the SpiceLuxe brand) will only fit four in a column (front to back) . in the garbage can), although they fit in twos side by side in a row (left edge of drawer to right edge). s sold by Trader Joe's (look for similar empty 4-ounce bottles for sale here at Revain, about 1.75 inches square and 4.25 inches high; consider the SpiceLuxe brand) fit five (5) columns deep and as many equal two (2) wide rows. If, like me, you have an abundance of supermarket spice jars, let's assume you put an average of 9 jars in each basket (unless you're willing to repackage some of the jars for the most efficient placement possible) . I don't need all of the dozen (12) baskets in my order to store herbs and spices, but I'll use six on my shelf and use the extra space next to them for the odd extra large fancy container of spices. (For example, the giant round Borsari tub I ordered from Revain last month is 6 inches in diameter!) For reference for anyone like me who suffers from arthritis or other hand strength and dexterity issues, one of these is the 30230 -Basket filled with spice jars weighs just under 4 pounds. On a good day (or for those with perfectly healthy hands) that's a manageable weight for one-handed living (to carry spices to another cooking area in the kitchen). On a typical bad day, I can lift and move a full basket with both hands. This is an improvement over the 12 x 7 x 5 box I previously used for this purpose; be dangerously difficult for someone with an autoimmune disease like me.
