Easyou Hu's sales information indicates that it is 100% horsehair. I could not find any information on what part of the horse the hair came from. Hair from different parts of the animal reacts differently to moisture. The inscription I was able to decipher on the handle of the brush indicates that whatever the brush may be, it is a "mountain horse". Mountain horse brushes have sharp points. This brush fits. I like the flexibility/spring of the hair. The brush creates sharp bamboo leaves and orchid leaves. It also works well with landscape. I was able to draw on raw Chinese MEGREZ paper that spreads freely.
