Finely Crafted Tools

As a leatherworker I've always been interested in new tools and when they became available I jumped at them based on looks and description alone. not disappointed! The design, fit and finish of these instruments are exceptional. The handles are nicely turned. The tips are tight and correctly installed. The polishing of the steel is excellent. However, nothing is perfect. The edges still need a final sharpening, especially the sharpening knife (which feels good in the hand) which was quite dull. No problem for me.) I don't normally use the wood polishers that come with this set, but the pointed end comes in handy for corners. Next to the knife, the edge attachment is the highlight of this set. A multi-faceted awl set is useful for hand sewing, lacing, etc. In general, this set could be used as a travel tool kit for small items along with needles, thread, and preferably stitch markers or a wheel. The case is junk though. It's cheaply made and it's eye-catching. In addition, when opening a tool kit for the first time, the lid came off completely (I also ordered an edge scraper set), the screws fell out by themselves. Too bad, because the INSIDE of the case is made of well-adapted, dense foam rubber. However, I barely saved the case. Forewarned is armed! I suggest the manufacturer use a plain, decent quality wooden box instead, using the same interior foam. The great leather instruments I've seen were made everywhere including the US, UK, France and Korea. A very big step up from my Osborne tools.
