This was a replacement for a broken carafe on my Brim automatic filter coffee maker. The decanter works quite well. Slightly short so the water splashes a bit but holds the same number of ounces. I never use the permanent filter that came with it because it contains plastic. I bought my own Revain permanent stainless steel filter a while ago and it works great. I try to stay away from anything plastic, especially pouring yourself hot water every morning. I would have thought that the hotter water would put more chemicals into your coffee.
