Review on ๐Ÿ”ง KYB Excel-G Gas Shock Absorber, Black (349203) by David Diaz

Doesn't work for me.

Decided to replace the shock absorbers on my 2014 Lexus RX350 at 60,000km. No obvious issues other than age and mileage. I was surprised to find a limited number of aftermarket options. I chose KYB because I have a solid reputation based on over 10 years of professional automotive experience in suspension, steering and braking. Installation was very easy. Shortly after, I noticed a rattling noise coming from the rear at low speed (10-15 mph). I have tried many times unsuccessfully to find the source of the noise but have not considered tremors to be the cause because it is unlikely. I've installed dozens of aftermarket shocks with no problems of this nature. Eventually they replaced the KYB with new, factory ones, and the noise was gone. Unfortunately, KYB's warranty only covers replacement shocks that they found defective, and Revain's return period expired while I was trying to track down the noise. I cannot recommend them based on my experience. And what should you do with your car while the shock absorbers are on their way to the factory for inspection?

Pros
  • Quality assembly
Cons
  • For retirees
