Review on ๐ŸŽพ Mini BALLPORT Tennis Ball Pick Up Hopper by Tourna by Dan Toliver

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great value, small hopper, max 30 balls

Haven't used it extensively but for the price I like the design and features so far. Durable plastic, easy assembly it arrived in a flat box. If you know how to use a screwdriver there are 8 simple screws to hold the sides together, 4 on each side. 4 additional screws hold the leg hinge plates, 2 screws on each side. It measures 29 inches tall when closed and just over 30 inches with legs open, so no problem. The two fixed bars on the bottom are ideally positioned to grab the ball. The bars at the top are a bit wobbly which means they don't slide perfectly so you might have to use both hands, but their strength means they won't slip off in transit. Additionally, the rod channels have rounded indentations to ensure each rod locks into place in the closed position. The nicest feature is the specially designed locking slots on the sides of the box that keep the legs in place when raising or lowering. The legs just "snap" and stay in place. My old metal hoop was a pain, I had to put each foot in the cradle in the hoop with all the balls in the way. Personal touch - when the legs are in the up position the handles clink against each other so I wrapped them in a few layers of hockey tape. Nice and quiet and extra protection on the pitch when your legs are down. Finally, the photos show a sports field full of 30 balls. There is probably room for 3 more and 36 will be filled. Update September 2015: After a full season of use, the time has finally come. The crossbars at the bottom of the bunker failed after trying to pinch more than 30-31 balls, causing the plastic walls to bulge outward. I like to use this for my last few balls that aren't quite dead so this ball couldn't hold them when I added a few extra ones from my bag. So be careful, once it looks full don't try to max it out again. What worries me is that the sides are now permanently bent (it's just plastic) and even with a few extra balls these bars could come loose again if I forget. I consider this a minor design flaw and would like these bottom bars to be permanently attached. Maybe glue? Rating downgraded to 4 stars. That being said, it's still my favorite bunker for the reasons I've written about before.
