Great guide for training my service dog

I have an 11 month old puppy that I am training to do service work. She is trained off a leash, which gives her many opportunities for distraction, and has attempted to escape multiple times while chasing rabbits. I ordered this dog training collar from Petphil to restrain her when she runs away and to focus her on training. The key to using a training collar effectively is to always emit a warning tone before making any adjustments. The dog will very quickly associate the beep with an imminent correction if the unwanted behavior continues. After only two hardfixes I now only use beep mode and sometimes vibrate mode. If she's chasing a rabbit, I'll hit the signal button and call her back. She'll be right back. The beep is loud enough that your dog can hear it even in noisy environments. I hear it from a distance. There are a number of features that I like about this training collar. First, the transmitter and collar are rechargeable - no expensive button batteries are required. The collar comes with a USB charging cable. They charge pretty quickly. I charge both about once a week. It's not like they're out of action. I just like keeping them up. I particularly like the vibration function. It provides gentle correction when needed. With the collar I get a range of about 800 feet. This is to be expected from my property as there are many junipers and pines which shorten the range. I expect the collar to work up to 1000ft or more in the open field. The transmitter has three buttons - the top button is for the audio signal. The middle button is for vibration. The bottom button is used to send a soft hit. There is a momentary rotary switch on the top of the transmitter that adjusts the beat level. Set the level to the lowest level at which your dog responds. The levels range from 1 to 16. I set it to 8 which is good enough for my pup. The transmitter can be paired with two different collars when training more than one dog. The switch on the left side of the transmitter allows you to switch between collar #1 and collar #2. Please note that this training collar comes with a collar only. You will need to buy a second collar if you need two. Another very handy feature is the lock switch on the lower right side of the transmitter. In the lower position, the operation of the transmitter is blocked. This is especially useful if you intend to carry the transmitter in your pocket. It prevents accidental correction if one of the keys is pressed unintentionally. When a button on the transmitter is pressed, the transmitter turns on and displays the battery level. After 30 seconds, the transmitter turns off. I mention this because if you want to correct a dog when the transmitter is off, you have to press the button twice, once to turn on the transmitter and a second time to send the correction. In my photo, my puppy is wearing two collars. . The light colored collar is a training collar. The other collar is a radio controlled collar to find her when she runs away. Overall I am very satisfied with this training collar and transmitter. They are well made, work reliably and solve some off-leash training problems very well. My puppy is more focused on his training. I highly recommend this training collar.
