For my Opel Astra, I opted for 205/55R16 tires. The ride quality on mild mud/clay has yet to be tested, but I have no doubt that the rubber will hold up. the benefits: Goodyear's all-season tires are excellent, period. Significantly reduced road noise, improved ride comfort, and superior grip in all weather conditions. On a road that was being repaired, I drove at speeds of 40-50 mph multiple times; there were no issues or faults, and the road smoothed out the blows nicely. Some drawbacks: The second month of use has revealed no issues. If you listen carefully via an open window, you may be able to hear the occasional "click" of a small stone adhering to the asphalt, but this is of no real concern.
