Fingers crossed Best in Industrial Electrical

Used this part along with many others to repair my Aquarite Salt Generator. I did this repair once many, many years ago as I have been using Aquarite units since installing my pool in 1999. This is not the original Aquarit. As far as I remember it was changed at least once. What was odd was that when the block was opened, the thermistor (that part) was disconnected from its solder joint, as if someone had "cut" the connecting wires right at the solder joint. Blackboard. The thermistor was right on top of the other component, having just fallen on that spot. It didn't fall apart and didn't look burnt. So I just soldered the existing thermistor back to the board, thinking it was fixed. In fact, it appeared to be motionless at first, as the LED indicators then worked, showing power and chlorine production. Unfortunately, the next day the lights were out again and I found the thermistor in exactly the same place as before - on a different component underneath where it was. should have been soldered. The solder joints failed again. Luckily I ordered this thermistor 2 the day before because I wasn't sure if the thermistor I just soldered back on is really good. Although at first I was hoping for when the lights came on. But I knew he was old. Maybe 7 to 10 years? So I soldered in one of the new thermistors and shortened the wires a bit. The original leads were so long that I worried that if the thermistor was left that long, it might touch the front panel. But I only removed 1/4 inch or so. The device will work again and time will tell if the thermistor drops again. My theory is that the thermistor has failed and may have overheated causing the solder joints to melt. Perhaps this was facilitated by short lines. I read somewhere that the wires should be a bit long so the thermistor case isn't too close to the board when it gets hot. How 400 degrees hot! If that doesn't help, I'll have to buy a new board. Hope this information helps someone. Update: It's been almost a week now and the new thermistor hasn't fallen off or failed. I believe the old one was defective and that is exactly what is needed to repair the unit. This saved a significant amount of money compared to a brand new board or box! It also shows that we have become a throw and replace society, but nothing else has been specified. I say this because this thermistor repair is not something your local pool maintenance company would offer as an option. They only replace the entire fee for a few hundred dollars!
