Surprisingly good skimmer for the price. Some adjustment is needed, I got mine about halfway out of the pan. There are a few things to note - there are three ways to customize this. The entire skimmer can be raised and lowered. The outlet tube can be rotated and the air tube can be opened or closed (if a valve is added). Once I set it high enough it immediately started pulling out nasty dirt. Can't wait to see what it can do once the walls are coated. If water overflows, there is not enough of it in the tank. If you don't have humidity, it's too high. Use the friction and the teflon screw to your advantage. As some have said, the attachment point is very flimsy. It is designed to be placed on a separator in the sump and not hung from a tank. I'm using it on a huge tank system that probably needs more skimming than it can provide, but it seems to get the job done so far as I drain it quite often. I love the fact that it sits entirely in the swamp. So if it overflows, everything stays in the tank. Very good value for money.
