Review on Lenovo L27M 28: 27-Inch FreeSync Monitor with USB Hub and Anti-Glare Coating - Perfect for Wall Mounting and Tilt Adjustment by Nate Christensen

Revainrating 4 out of 5

USB-C display and hub!

The Lenovo L27m-28 confused me about the size when I first heard about it, I'm glad they clearly show it as a 27" model on the Revain site! Clip that snaps into the VESA mount. The base is flat and round and since the monitor rests on its back I thought I hadn't gotten a good seal, I was a little wary of the new monitor so there was a little pressure when I picked it up and put it down and I have a firm "click" in place. So be careful when you first get up. The monitor is lighter than I expected and arrived in an unmarked Revain box with a Lenovo shipping/marketing box inside. It's nice to see that the branded box hasn't been on my porch for a while! In addition to the stand and monitor components, the box includes a power cord, a 6-foot USB-C to USB-C cable, a VGA cable, and a paper bag with a 151-page quick start guide and warranty "book." . (multilingual). Let's put this book on the same page next time with a link and a Q code Lenovo? On the back of the monitor for connections: power, HDMI, VGA, audio, USB-C display and two USB ports, one with the charge/battery logo. I was able to charge my phone on both ports, but couldn't measure the power. There's also a plastic cable guide that comes out of the base arm. I think the traditional display port will really benefit this device as many customers don't have USB-C computers. Some may need to purchase an additional cable. I took a photo from the manual showing the tilt angle from -5 (forward) to 22 degrees backward. At the time of writing, the marketing image on the Revain page looked like it tilted more than -5. You might want to fix that. I was disappointed with the lack of vertical lift. The distance from the table to the bottom of the front panel is 3.5 inches. Turning on the L27m was quick and clean. It has a nice look and feel with super thin bezels. The stand is a little wobbly so you can lean against one another with a second L27m. It doesn't look like it's moving while I'm typing or banging on my desk with cool '80s tunes, but if you accidentally touch or hit it, it wobbles but doesn't fall. The controls are on the front panel (thanks) and are easy to navigate through the options once you've accessed them. I'll spend more time with settings like "Over Drive" and "Novo Vision" later, but they appear to be methods of controlling response time. I'll cover a few display scenarios, but at this price point and size I was a little apprehensive about this FHD resolution (1920 x 1080) at 27 inches, but the screen looks great even when I'm looking at some documents and websites I have no qualms or thought all this is "too big". Impression, remember that Windows can be scaled to make it exactly how you need it. Mac fans, please understand that we (Windows users) are getting USB-C devices with fantastic speeds. So please accept my excitement about these devices and the chaining of things. That is so cool! I connected two different Android phones, one didn't have a native device management app so it was basically a mirror display on that phone. I was playing a racing game and it was great, but since the device doesn't have speakers, there was no sound. Not even on the phone! The second phone has a "Direct Sharing" app and instantly turns the phone into a mouse pad and the monitor into a desktop with some basic apps. Very cool. I then connected it to my Win 10 laptop via a USB-C port. The monitor immediately presented itself in dual-display mode. Pro tip: The Windows key and P key both get quick monitor display options like Expand. Next, I wanted to test the capabilities of the USB-C port. This is essentially a video input, but when used with USB ports it doubles as a hub. I was hoping that USB-C would pull through, but maybe because of the DisplayPort specs, I've proven that I can't daisy chain USB-C devices. I tested multiple docking stations (both powered and non-powered) as well as a few USB-C enabled hard drives. no What worked was a USB hub! So you have a USB-C port on your laptop (which renders video) with a USB stick in the USB port. Tests showed almost the same transfer speeds when moving a 4GB file as with a direct connection! I was so excited I didn't even try the mouse or keyboard, I'm sure they work (will update or add a comment if there are problems). So I'm really into the USB-C promotion for devices. , which is a big plus. This Lenovo monitor doesn't hit all the interesting points, but for the price, it's a quality 27-inch monitor. Would have been 5 stars if the stand didn't swing so easily and had some vertical lift or maybe some speakers.
