Are you looking for a Full HD monitor for use in SoHo (Small Office Home Office)? A monitor that gets the job done, could it be for work, watching movies or the casual gaming? The LCD monitor is IPS (In-Plane Switching), and while TN monitors are more popular among gamers, IPS is known for having a higher contrast ratio, better black levels, high color fidelity (to prevent images from becoming soft ) and also has less color shift when you view the monitor from different angles. But there is a caveat with this technology: slower response times and lower refresh rates. That being said, there are people who just want a solid 1080p HD monitor big enough to work with, better color reproduction, watch videos and casual games, then there are gamers who want fast response times and high refresh rates, the are more expensive you can handle a graphics card, and even if you want a 4K monitor and are ready for top, you have the best technology. There are also PLS and VA monitors. This Lenovo monitor is for those who want a basic monitor that puts work first, but still lets you watch movies and play video games (which I'll cover in my review). The monitor has a 3-sided frameless thin frame. There are also VGA, HDMI, USB-C ports (so you can connect and charge peripherals directly through the monitor) and audio-out ports. In addition, the monitor features AMD Free Sync technology, which allows you to see every detail, eliminating stuttering and image tearing. Let's talk about work first. I was very happy with how the colors actually look on this monitor. Color is important to me because I use Pantone swatches where specific colors are important to the design. Also, when editing videos, I want to make sure that certain elements are not left out when exporting the video for use on other devices. And also when editing photos that have my HDR images on them, I want to make sure everything looks good for the final version. Completion after post-processing. Movies look amazing on this monitor and I watch movies and anime and love the overall picture quality of movies and how they look on this monitor. Watching Blu-ray on this monitor is just great! In addition, the monitor is TÜV Eye Comfort certified, so this feature allows you to control the blue light emission and is equipped with an anti-glare display. This is important to me as my eyes have been damaged by blue light and I need to wear goggles to protect my eyes from blue light. As for the games, for the most part, the games should suit most casual gamers. But hardcore gamers won't like this monitor. The Lenovo L27M-28 is a 75Hz 4ms monitor that never claims to be a gaming monitor, so this is important to note. Most gaming monitors offer 144-165 Hz and 1 ms and either 1080p-1440p. Also, the more features the monitor offers, the more expensive they are. But I wanted to test it on the average gamer. I notice a difference between this and my gaming monitor in games that are fast paced. An example is "Overwatch", the action is not as smooth as I would like, but is it preventing me from playing the game? Not at all. It's noticeable, but not critical to me. I know that for hardcore gamers, lack of such smooth gameplay is not good and frustrating. So, I will say that for those who prefer gaming, a gaming monitor is the way to go. For those who want to use it for work, movie watching, and casual gaming, this monitor will suit your needs. I was also able to easily mount it to my adjustable desktop monitor arm. A VESA mount is not included, but if you purchase a VESA compatible monitor arm, the mount will work on this monitor. But it comes with a simple monitor stand that is easy to install. I wish the monitor would allow a display port in addition to VGA and HDMI. So if you're using a new PC or laptop with DisplayPort connectors and no HDMI, you'll need to buy a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter or other monitor with DisplayPort input. But if your PC or laptop has an HDMI or VGA input, I recommend using HDMI instead of VGA, and I recommend buying an HDMI cable (because the monitor comes with a 6-foot USB-C cable and a VGA cable, but no HDMI cable is supplied). cable, that was amazing. Most monitors include HDMI cables.) I would like to mention that Lenovo offers a 27-inch L27q-20 monitor with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 QHD (Quad HD), i.e. 2K monitors are $45 more expensive and offer both HDMI and DisplayPort inputs. That being said, as mentioned, this is a great monitor for SoHo use and for anyone who just needs a really good 27-inch HD 1080p monitor that's great for work, movies, and casual gaming.
