Review on Nikon 35mm f/1.8G Auto Focus Lens for Nikon DSLR Cameras - Black (Model 2183) by Ba Li ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I am amazed at how well the product is made, just magically!

The design of the lens is excellent: a compact and durable plastic body, a metal mount with a rubber boot. The front lens not only does not rotate, but does not move at all relative to the body. The manual focus ring is rubberized and does not rotate during autofocus. The label with the marking surprises with a huge font size - unusually :) The only thing missing is the distance scale, it is very convenient to focus blindly on it. I did not notice the problem with autofocus misses described by many on my copy, as well as problems with FF and BF (I shoot on the D3100). The lens focuses accurately even in difficult light conditions. Autofocus itself is fast and quiet, thanks to the ultrasonic motor. The lens is very sharp in the center already from f/2.0, and around f/4-5.6 it reaches its maximum sharpness. Vignetting at wide apertures is quite noticeable. Backlight glass holds very worthy! The Nikkor 35mm is a great lens for its ridiculous price. After buying this fast glass, I no longer want to set dark zooms. You won't regret buying! (2022) After buying a full-frame camera (D700), I was thinking of selling the 35-ku. The lens covers the full frame format, but the corners are constantly dark. It will be possible to shoot only from portrait distances and at an open aperture (I cover up to 2.5-2.8). For a certain range of tasks, the lens is suitable, but there is no need to talk about full-fledged use on FF.

Pros
  • + Universal focal length + Wide aperture + Metal bayonet + Front lens does not rotate + Compact and lightweight + Good resolution in the center of the frame + Fast and quiet autofocus + Perfectly holds backlight
Cons
  • - Missing distance scale - Chromatic aberrations - Noticeable barrel distortion - Pretty decent vignetting, which becomes invisible when stopping down to f / 4

Simply an indispensable lens for travel and at home. The aperture is sufficient for shooting indoors at ISO 400-640 without a flash. The focal length allows you to take pictures in the apartment without pressing into the walls.

Got pros: Quality lenses, good build quality Different cons: fixed focal length, but this is the essence of the lens

Has pros: low price (especially on the Savelovsky radio market in Hong Kong) sharpness, aperture ratio, juicy picture, fearless bokeh Some cons: Achromatic aberrations in the form of pink areolas and lack of image stabilizer.
