SkyCaddie SG2 Golf GPS

Slightly surprised by negative reviews. While my experience with SkyCaddie and SG2 may not be "perfect", I am completely satisfied with the product and customer support. I bought my SG2 in February 2006 and it comes with a one year warranty. After 10 months I no longer received a satellite signal. I opened a SkyCaddie ticket. You made me follow all the steps in the device reset guide. After unsuccessful attempts they sent me a return authorization and prepaid packaging. The factory couldn't fix the problem, so they quickly sent me a new replacement unit and extended my warranty by a few months. Excellent customer service. A few months later (after the warranty expired) the small screw holding the belt clip came loose and I lost the screw. The clip stays but the screw is gone. After trying to find a local replacement (Radio Shack etc) I called SkyCaddie again. This time they sent me a replacement screw and clip for free. This time I screwed the spare screw all the way in. Excellent customer service. So the battery life is between 3.75 and 2.75 years (depending on if they used my original spare battery). Today I finally felt like I had to order a new battery as the battery life had been reduced to around 5 hours. Ordered it for $25 with free shipping from a non-SkyCaddie site. I play about 45 rounds a year so I got about 150+ rounds on the original battery. I recently upgraded my home PC and now I no longer have any DB2 serial ports. I went to Best Buy and bought a serial to USB cable and had no problems downloading, syncing etc. I like the new CaddySync desktop software that you download and it's very easy to use. Also, I was happy to see that SkyCaddie was offering the Play 36 Worldwide plan for $130 and 36 months. This eliminated some of my concerns about being limited to just one state. Overall, I sincerely believe SkyCaddie has paid for itself in my tournament winnings alone. Without a range finder or GPS, unless you're using an expensive human caddy, you're giving up shots in favor of the rest of the field.
