We have used a filtering system for over 8 years now. We live in a community with a water treatment system. It's not a complete filtering system and it also adds Chlorine. Yuk! In the beginning we used the Pentek FloPlus filters. They still go for $80 and up now on Revain. Each time I replace a filter, I look for new alternatives. For instance, last time I found the Geekpure 20-Inch Big Blue Carbon Block Water Filter. It was close to 1/3 the price I was paying. It came with 5-star reviews. Why not! I usually know that a new filter is needed when the pressure drops. It didn't drop this time, but I looked to replace it after 10 months - a long time! This time I found this iSpring FC25B. It was too close to 1/3 the price of the Pentek with the greatest capacity of any other filter and the best promise of chlorine removal. The pressure was great. There was not even a hint of chlorine or anything else. Great tasting water. That's what I'm looking for. Now, we'll see how long it lasts and the pressure keeps up. That's the final test. Installation is easy. Turn of water to filter. I keep bypass closed and water is directed only to outdoor hose hookup (so I can clean housing). Open any faucet in house to release pressure. Remove old filter and clean housing and install new filter. Change and lubricate O-ring (with vegetable grade lubricant). Screw housing back in "hand tight." Then with the housing wrench tighten a bit more. Finally, open valve to send water through the filter. It's usually about a 10-15 minute job.
