This hammer works great but there are a few things to keep in mind. First, all metal machines like this are usually covered in plastic and oil. Wipe off the oil when unpacking. (Trust me, you don't want to receive ones that weren't stored that way prior to delivery.) Second, when punching holes, you need to balance the opposite side of the hole you're using with a piece of metal that's the same gauge as the one, you use, you punch. Place it between the two main discs as if you are hitting the opposite side. (If you don't do this, you will shorten the life of this product.) Third, when stamping, use drill wax on the stamps. Simply insert the stamp into the wax and start stamping. Fourth, use a 2 pound hammer to hit. You need to push the stamp all the way by lifting the metal washers off the black spacer it sits on and pulling the metal washer and punching it out from underneath.
