This radio has very good sensitivity and selectivity for its price. The backlighting on the dial is particularly good as I usually use the radio in the dark, but the band selector isn't backlit so I can't see which band you're on without looking. The AM and FM bands are far to the left so you can feel the click, but when you switch between the SW bands it's hard to tell which band you're on in the dark. The volume control on the side is good and I didn't think I'd like it, but it feels and works well. Shortwave works well with good sensitivity and selectivity when the bands are open. There aren't many English language channels in this South West country and I mostly listen to Spanish channels and religious channels in English. If you are in another country, you may have more English speaking stations. The build of the radio is also good, not flimsy like others I've had, and the tuning wheel and sliders feel solid. It has an LED tuning indicator that helps with weaker stations. Adding a cable antenna helps with weaker stations, but for the most part doesn't make much of a difference or affects AM stations. Not sure about the battery life as I just got the radio, but the included power adapter is definitely a bonus.
