Second battery change I noticed the first set (Duracell) was leaking and an acid crust was forming around all three batteries. and this resulted in the battery case and cables smoking so much that I was afraid it would catch fire! The smell was so toxic that it still burns my throat and nose after a few hours! This was used as a night light in my baby's room on her doll table! It could catch fire. The only thing I could see as a possible cause is sloppy soldering which appears to have left nuggets of solder at the battery connection point.
