Review on πŸ’ͺ Powerful VonHaus SDS Plus Heavy Rotary Hammer - Enhance Efficiency and Precision by Carlos Phillips

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Until now please be surprised **Update**

I was a little apprehensive about this purchase as it is a fairly cheap rock drill brand that I had never heard of before. But I figured for the price what the heck would I try. It was not intended as a tool for the professional, only for the homeowner. I had to move some pier posts on a redesigned deck. Unfortunately, the new structure required the removal of several old concrete supports. I used this product to demolish this very old concrete and remove these supports. It took a while but the tool really worked. The power seemed sufficient, there were no failures at work. At the moment I have not used it in any mode other than the hammer, but I am happy with the purchase. Carry case is good and includes bits/bait. I wish it was variable speed, which I think would be more useful in impact drilling mode, and the power cord was a bit longer. But overall I'm very happy with it so far. I used this tool in punch mode to drill 38 holes while attaching the plate to the concrete. I used 1/4" x 3 3/4" red head concrete screws. This tool made drilling all those holes a breeze. If the tool breaks tomorrow, I feel like I've already received my money. **UPDATE** 07-08-19. I have just upgraded my rating from the original 4 stars to 5 stars. I continued my projects by replacing the fence and then the retaining wall. Again I had to break concrete around the old fence and support posts. About 25 of them. Once again this tool did the job. Obviously not as fast as a jackhammer, but it worked well enough to knock the old concrete out from under the post. I suggest topping up the lube frequently when using as much as I have as it seems to run through fairly quickly. But then again, this thing exceeded all my expectations. Grease is splattering all over the place so it's most likely a seal or something. This happened during a demonstration of a tiled shower. Wrapped a rag around and finished the project. While I think it's quite a bit of toast, my assessment remains the same. For what I was able to do with this tool at its price, I think it's money well spent. I will buy another.
