I have a Renogy 100w solar enclosure with a controller mounted to the back of the panel and wanted to replace the very short (8ft) cable that came with the panels that I can extend beyond the front of the trailer to expose the panels to the sun during the day. That the cable is 8 AWG and 30 feet long seemed like a great idea. When I received the cables I quickly realized that the cables were too rigid to be used for portable solar panels. While you can straighten the cables with a bit of effort, it reminds me of unrolling a cold, stiff garden hose. However, I would recommend the cables for permanent solar applications as the outer jacket and MC4 connectors are of good quality. I ended up returning the cables and buying a 10 AWG stranded solar PV cable - 600v TC cable (sold at Revain) and added Renogy MC4 connectors which is the best option for portable panels, especially since both cables are in the The shell is like a coiled extension cord - the same housing are housed in PVC.
