Review on ViewSonic VX2235WM 22-inch Wide Monitor: Crisp 1680X1050 Resolution on a Wide Screen by David Nunes

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good and bad

First of all, it's a good monitor for the price, it gets better and cheaper, and since this monitor is about half the price of 24-inch LCD monitors, it's excellent value for money. The monitor has both DVI and VGA. I've hooked up a DVI to my PC and a VGA to my laptop (toggle between the two with button #2) and they both produce great color and text. I've calibrated this monitor with Pantone Huey and it looks good and pairs well with Photoshop but still not as good as CRT (but they're getting better!) Now for the bad, the monitor shows some dimming from top to bottom and bottom to top but that's not bad... But the worst thing about the VX2235wm is that the frame is gloss black and everything in my office is reflective and very distracting Viewsonic also has a VG2230wm with the same frame but with a matte black finish frame instead of a shiny one. I am giving the monitor 3 stars because using a difference in brightness and a different glossy bezel would have given it a 5 star rating in my book.
