HDMI cables have one major disadvantage...they tend to come loose. They have no locking mechanism and rely on friction to hold them in place. Ironically, thicker (and often more expensive) cables are more of a problem than thinner, more flexible ones. If the HDMI cable becomes disconnected, the TV screen will display static images or lose the signal entirely. You can fix the problem by plugging it back in, but the problem gets worse over time. Because my TV is attached to a player so I can rotate it for the best viewing angle, the HMDI connector has often come loose. When I finally got tired of "fixing" I decided to try the Blue Echo EZ lock. It worked. I haven't had a signal loss since the lock was set. The only problem was that the lock didn't fit the Monster brand HDMI cable I was using and I had to use a different (cheaper) HDMI cable.
