I bought these ankle boots for my cousin who lives upstairs. Her 15-20 pound dog (maybe a Yorkshire Schnauzer, we think?) refused to go outside to potty because it was freezing cold here in Chicago. Neither store carried booties, so I decided to order them online as an early Christmas present. I wouldn't call her dog x-small, but small. Melody. xsmall doesn't mean your DOG is xsmall, it means he's xsmall compared to her other bootie sizes! They fit perfectly. She uses them almost every day and none of them have fallen off. As is the case with my size. Great boots for my 110lb American Bulldog. I suggest that you cut off the extra Velcro if the straps are too long to keep them from dangling or snagging on things. They are not 100% waterproof. No idea, but they protect perfectly against cold and salt. (They would get 5 stars if they managed to make them 100% waterproof!)
