I've been having trouble with thirds since I pierced them. All of the standard ear studs weren't long enough and didn't fit properly around my ears, which I think is why they were so annoyed. I never expected the portion for my third to be thicker (which I should have thought about). This is how my search for longer earrings began. I didn't know how hard it is to find something like this. I read several reviews of earrings and decided to try these and another pair. This couple is incredible. I like the screw on the back mainly because it goes so far and gives some room for your ears. They don't stick out that much anyway, at least it would be noticeable if someone wasn't examining your ears, and they shouldn't be lol. Also, the back of the earring is smooth so I won't poke myself behind the ear with earring pins anymore. I hope this helps as I just received them and put them in today but I think they will help with that extra space. Very happy customer :).
