65 lb. Thrust Model:[Update]I received my second motor today. Shipping box is beat up but not as bad. Both foam inserts cracked again. But, the speed control handle is NOT broken. Hooked it up to my battery and all speeds including reverse seem to work. I have not tested it in the water yet, so will reserve one star for that. I'm a little worried about the quality of wires and connection that they used, especially the small ring connector that connects the battery to the speed controller. I will take the cover off and inspect the new one and make sure the connections are tight. I couldn't find a good spec on how much current draw this motor (65lb model) uses at 12V but other companies will draw 55 Amps. I'm going to setup with a 60A circuit breaker which I had to buy. The equivalent Newport Vessels motor comes with the circuit breaker.I can't tell you how the motor performs since it arrive with the speed control broken. The packaging arrive in poor condition with the outside of the box showing holes. After opening the package it could be seen that both protective foam inserts were cracked. When I took the motor out of the packaging I noted that the tiller handle seemed very loose and I couldn't feel any detents for different speeds. I removed the cover off the control head and found that the rod between the handle and the speed controller/sensor was completely sheared off. I immediately started the replacement process through Best Buy and supposedly there is another motor on the way, but there is no tracking information. And, I see that the seller has removed the 65 lb. thrust model from the listing. Maybe I got the last one? I will update the star rating once I receive a working model.
