It didn't work at first and I was trying to figure out how to program it. The description says it doesn't need to be programmed so I was frustrated but then I read a post on the internet saying the TV and remote needed to be reset. If this happens, turn off the TV, cover the IR receiver on the TV, remove the batteries from the remote and press all the buttons on the remote (I pressed everything but it may have been too much). Plug the TV back in, turn it on using the power buttons on the front of the TV, change the batteries in the remote control, press a few buttons on the remote control, open the IR receiver on the TV and the remote control should now work. Can't tell you why it works, but it works. Oh, and then I tried the old remote, thinking maybe that replacement remote isn't needed, but the old remote is still dead.
