Review on Boyesen WPK 45O Orange Supercooler Impeller by Ben Rodriguez

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good pump, very poor instructions and description how to install it. Read all

First of all I would like to tell you that Boyesen doesn't really care if you have an old bike or not. They also don't care if you lose coolant while they find out you need to replace your old water pump gasket. How can I say for sure? This kit does not include the cheap $5 rubber grommet. The kit contains what you see: a cover and an impeller. that's all. Your idiotic instructions say you should use an old rubber gasket. Yes, very clever of them, let's take an old seal that was pressed out of the mold. I have a 2012 KTM 500 EXC that was produced in mid-2011. I recently installed this "recommended update" and was very disappointed to see that the priceless item, the rubber grommet, was not included. But hey, it's Boysen. Following the installation instructions for this "Subcooler Water Pump" I began to fill my radiator with high quality coolant. It was very frustrating to see coolant leaking between the Boyesen water pump and the engine case. Equally disheartening was the trip I missed. Had I known about this issue, I would have waited until I had ALL the parts I needed, including the replacement rubber grommet, before installing this "recommended update". I should have followed my instincts, not Boysen's idiotic instructions. After missing a weekend trip, I waited for a replacement rubber pad to arrive in the mail. I reinstalled a Boyesen super cooler with a new rubber gasket and what do you know? No more electricity! Wow, who knew a 'new' rubber seal would hold fluid in a water pump? I have since contacted Boysen about this and have heard nothing but crickets. Apparently they don't care about the concerns of the customers. So let me just offer a word of warning to all potential Boyesen Supercooler water pump buyers. Be sure to replace the gasket BEFORE or AT THE SAME TIME as purchasing the water pump. Boyesen definitely won't help you as they don't care about your water pump issues. They just want you to buy their product and deal with the consequences of their poor instructions for use. Be careful!
