The overall size of the iron is smaller than regular irons, it's much better for traveling, and the cylinders/flat plates are almost the same length as my big irons! The stem is 1 inch in diameter and has a clip that opens easily and holds the hair. The carrying case is cute and handy, and the iron is easy to use. The only thing I would add to this unit is an adjustable heat setting. It heats up to 374 degrees which is good for ironing but too hot for my curly hair. (I have medium length fine hair.) When the flat iron was at its hottest I turned off the power and was able to finish the entire head while it cooled, so problem solved! I can switch between curling and straightening while the iron is on to keep my shorter strands of hair off the flat plates. Bonus!
