I am not a professional artist and I do not draw with pencil. I was looking for something more effective and varied than what you buy for the class at the end-of-school sale. The aim, however, was both coloration and the improvement of artistic practice. SUMMARY: I'm glad I chose them. Large selection, only a few are indistinguishable from another color. Good coverage if you want a full, solid effect. Works well with blender. Comfortable trays and metal body. Comes with a color chart for you to fill in. This is REALLY necessary. I played with colors and an abstract pattern with groups of colors in some paintings. These images are in her book on smooth paper and on a drawing pad of red, yellow, brown, gray and black. I have also included a color swatch on high quality navy blue (not black) test paper against a dark background. The photo in the corner shows the use of a clear Prismacolor mixer. At the same time, the dark ones lose some of their brightness. The items provided are a great addition. The coloring book is, well, just a reprint of pictures I've seen before. Some of them are too small for these pins even though they are sharp. Some of them are for 3 year olds with solid black lines. In my opinion they are only good for testing. Pencil extensions (2) are good too. Not necessarily CONS, but be aware: the organization of what you get seems like someone only rates color groups. It VERY mismatches the color table columns. The color table number and name are not in the correct order. I've included a photo of just one of the pen trays in the different groups. These different placements show how many columns they contained compared to the compartment in which they were received. So to review the list of colors and find them more easily, you need to create a color map and reorganize it like I did. THAT was work. The color names and numbers would be easier to read if they were in plain white font. Touching the slide can be difficult to read. It would be better if they print the color number at the end because the name and number will disappear as the pen gets shorter. I was missing ONE pencil color (as shown in the color charts) and received a duplicate of another. I have contacted the seller. They couldn't replace the selected colors but offered a 5% refund.
