My carpet is mottled with taupe and brown colors. After reading reviews of the many light sources for urine detectors, I bought this one because it seemed to work even on crime and white carpet. There were special glasses in the kit, but they didn't work at all. Although I finally managed to find the stains my Chihuahua left in my dining room, it took me a lot of patience. I had to make sure the room was pitch dark and I had to go very LOW to the carpet about 6 inches from it. I was hoping that this item would work better than others I've tried, but it didn't make much of a difference. Yes it shows urine stains but YOU need to be close, know the area and hope you can find them all. I think you get what you pay for, right?
