I take my new iPad Mini Retina with me everywhere. I have a very small shoulder bag that I put it in and two zippered pockets for cords and similar items. I wanted something to protect the iPad a bit, but it was very basic. This case is perfect. The stitching along the edges protects the mini when I put the bag on the ground. When I walk from my desk to a meeting, I just put the Mini up my sleeve. It's not real leather, but it suits me. The lining is soft and protects the iPad. The only downside is that you have to remove all covers when using the case. The Mini slides in and out perfectly when there's no front or back cover, but otherwise it's difficult to get in or out. I have a smart case and removed it to use this case. I keep the smart case in my pocket to use it as a stand, but I hold the iPad in my hand most of the time, so I appreciate the fact that it's so light without the case. So I'm glad I didn't get to use the smart cover, but some people may feel uncomfortable without adequate protection.
