I build a PC about every 5 years. I believe this justifies investing money in updating the technology. The PC/media server I built in 2015 is still a monster gaming machine, it can run most games to the max but with the new rtx graphics cards and the new VR headsets sure to follow I thought me it's time for a new car. I got this motherboard along with Intel i9-10900k and 64GB gskill ripjaw V 3600MHz RAM. It cost a fortune, I'll be eating cereal next week (or month) but THIS WILL BEAT my other gaming PC (the one running the game graphics at max). I tested the new board and processor and it was at the top of the processor list. At the time of this review, it is in a class of its own. This motherboard is on a completely different level than my classified evga z97 board. Five years ago this board cost me almost the same, this board is still selling for $200 on ebay. This board is a no-brainer compared to this one. I assembled my new computer, booted it up and immediately went into the bios. After 60 seconds I've set my computer to boot from a Samsung 970 evo plus nvme ssd (which I installed in one of the 3 native nvme slots on the board) AND I've overclocked my RAM to 3600MHz (note that I've never overclocked anything before that). ) (I clicked the RAM icon, clicked the XMP icon and I'm done). There was so much information in the BIO on this board but it is presented in such a way that I have never looked into the BIO. I knew what had to be done and I did what needed to be done quickly. I set all 10 fan headers (yes there are 10 different headers on the board) to PWM, restarted the machine and installed Windows. After 30 minutes Windows 10 Pro was installed. 35 minutes after the PC booted up for the first time, the board was configured and a fresh, fully updated installation of Windows was running. This is an expensive fee. I'm a programmer and sometimes play video games, but that's probably more than I need. However, it is quality and future. I'm sure that in 5 years I'll be struggling again with the decision of whether I need to build a new PC at all. I again expect the answer to be no, and once again I expect I'll be building a new one anyway.
