My young (11 week old) Great Dane pup enjoys going for short walks but with him being a winter baby, it can be tough for the little guy to enjoy the outdoors without catching a chill - since they can't regulate their body temps at this age like an older dog can. I bought this coat because it has a velcro girth band that I'll be able to adjust as he grows - which is really fast at this age! :-) I purchased the large since his girth size is currently 21" - although his length was that of a medium (18"). It is a bit long for him and it has plenty of extra girth adjustment right now - but within a month he will fit into it perfectly. By the time he has outgrown this coat, warmer weather will soon be here. He loves his coat and it does keep him very warm - it has a nice soft fleece lining and what appears to be a nice wind-proof outer shell. The perfect coat for a growing pup!
