These are pretty basic water shoes. I originally bought them just for paddling so I could have shoes to carry the boat to the water and dock. However, I've recently tried using them for short hikes, the beach, or kayaking and I think there are much better solutions out there. Benefits) * Independent quickly fails. Water never sloshes under your foot* Dries relatively quickly in dry environments* Very light* Has been fairly durable so far* Insoles can be removed to dry Cons)* Rocks keep getting stuck in holes to fish out* Despite being on surfaces such as concrete, the sole isn't slippery, there's little to no tread on the outsole when hiking * the upper mesh isn't thin enough to keep sand out of the shoe * the ankle collar isn't tight enough to keep sand/dirt out, so always uncomfortable, dirt underfoot* Tongue doesn't really stay in place, can be quite uncomfortable to curl up at times.* Probably not unique to these shoes - they'll *really* smell bad unless they dry out quickly and end up in river/lake water
