Review on Cuisinart DCC 450BK Coffeemaker Stainless Steel Carafe by Amy Anderson

Excellent and inexpensive small coffee maker

I bought this Cuisinart coffee maker for my office. I wanted to avoid the expensive coffee pods that Keurig would use. The Cuisinart coffee maker does an excellent job of making coffee. The brewing temperature is more than sufficient. The burner will automatically shut off after 30 minutes, which is a good safety feature. The decanter is made of metal so it won't break if dropped. If you're making a full pot that says it's 4 cups, it's actually more like 2 regular sized coffee cups/cups. For me alone in my office, this is normal. A little noisy while brewing, but only for about a minute while the water is going through. So don't expect this to be a quiet coffee maker. Again, I'm alone in my office, so that's not a problem for me. Do not place the machine under an overhanging cupboard as steam will escape from the machine during brewing. This would be a safe coffee pot for a small apartment or college dorm room. And because you're using #2 cone filters and your own ground coffee, you avoid the exorbitant cost of Keurig pod coffee. With the Cuisinart 4-cup coffee pot, you can easily compost your used coffee grounds.
