Original Casio straps extended the life of my G-Shock GW-2000

First of all, let me say that I am very satisfied with my purchase. The strap is as advertised, it is a genuine Casio strap that fits my G-Shock GW-2000 perfectly. It looks and feels like the original strap that came with my watch. The fit and finish are excellent and I am happy to be able to wear my G-Shock again. However, there are some pitfalls when it comes to replacing your old straps. The first hurdle, and probably the biggest, is removing the old belts. Each bracelet attaches to the watch with a screw and reciprocal clasp with a hollow threaded rod. The screw and threaded rod have a slot for a slotted screwdriver. However, the slots are deceptively narrow for a flathead screwdriver. Try your screwdrivers out to find a pair that works. You need two of these so that one can act as an anchor and the other can loosen the screw. You may also need a table clamp or another pair of hands. The clock needs to be fixed somehow so that both hands are free to work with screwdrivers. I managed without a clamp but it was very frustrating. After removing the screw from the threaded rod, the rod must be pushed out of the hole to separate the bracelet from the watch. Here's my advice, don't use a tool to poke a threaded hole to push the rod out. This can damage the fine threads inside the hollow shaft. Instead, I used the screw itself to push the rod out. Remove the screw completely so you can see how long it is. screw back half. Then push the screw lightly, which will extend the rod just enough for you to grab and pull out later. Older belts contain metal clips well hidden inside the belt cavity. You'll see it when you take it apart. New straps do not come with these metal braces and will therefore need to be routed. Finally, when installing new straps, be careful when reinstalling the threaded rods. A lot of friction has to be overcome here, so the rod can bend if you hammer it, for example. Try to push them through with your thumbs first. If that doesn't work, use a hard surface like a kitchen counter to press down on the threaded rod while keeping the watch case as stable as possible. Hold the bar vertical/perpendicular to the hard surface you are using to slide it in. That's all. I hope you enjoy your G-Shock as much as I do :)
