When replacing a head on the infamous Jeep 4.0L straight-six, I found that the core plugs were rusted through and had holes in them. After replacing the cylinder head for cracks (big surprise on a 4.0) and head gasket, radiator, hoses (both radiator and heater) and lots and lots of flushing, the rust gave way to holes. I wanted brass connectors because they don't rust like steel and they only cost 30-40% more. Do it right and do it once. I only wish I had a square head to replace the block drains. Oh, another purchase of the Revain tool.
