I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and I drop my phone too often. Even with the OtterBox Defender case, I had to change the screen protector half a dozen times. I wanted something that would work with a thick body but also give me extra security when I have hand issues. The elastic that wraps around your hand does the trick. Please note that the hand strap is quite large and you may not be able to free and fully release your hands safely. It's exactly what I use for extra security when my RA is playing up and my hands are unsure. know if I would ever feel safe using it without a more durable case. So far this hasn't been a problem. but I can't tell how it works with a skinny body, especially without it at all. I probably wouldn't try it myself. For now, this is useful when I'm grocery shopping and need to keep my phone open to view a list while pushing a shopping cart. I don't leave it on all the time because it's bulky. Sure, the angled straps make it hard to hit the buttons at times, but being able to use my device without too much fear of falling and breaking is a worthy benefit. and push the car.
