Review on Razer Kaira Wireless Gaming Headset Xbox Retro Gaming & Microconsoles by Kawaguchi Burgess

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Not convincing for me.

Music quality: As others have written, the sound out of the box is terrible. If you play around with the equalizer, it gets better. If you've always heard of AirPods, they will sound great. If you get to the audiophile side of the spectrum they sound exactly as you would expect, fairly cheap. All the bass and treble are tiring. I'm in the thick of it. For reference: the headphones I use (Galaxy Buds 2, Sennheiser Momentum tw2, Phillips Fidelity X2, various Bose). Gaming Sound: They work well in games, which is to be expected. You can dial them up for just the right amount of bass and hear footsteps all around you in multiplayer games, at least when Dolby Atmos is enabled. I've also experienced robotic audio distortion in-game, not sure if it's headset or Xbox related, but it comes and goes around the house. Never had any problems with the home entertainment center. I should note that this is with the first firmware update you need to install. It's the same with the mic, go to the EQ and lower the highs a bit and that will reduce the noise a bit. Microphone monitoring doesn't seem to work either, even after toggling the option in the software. Construction and Comfort: Average comfort. The ear cushions are quite comfortable even with glasses. The top band has a lot less padding than I thought it would. I have a smaller head and the padding is completely compressed. This allows me to feel the plastic headband. In general, the design is entirely plastic. And the metal accent is just an accent, no metal for the hinges. All buttons and controls are easy to find while playing. FYI, the green color on the ear pads is part of the ear pads, so if you swap them out with Wicked pads or others, you'll lose the green accent (a plus for me). Hopefully that gives you a little more context for them. I'm torn. I understand there's a lot of technology in there, but if it cost $100 I'd put up with it. For $150 I'll probably try some other brands, especially as I've already encountered mic issues (noise and no monitoring), audio issues (poor quality and mechanical distortion), and comfort issues (headband). If you focus solely on Discord games or background music, they'll probably be great. If you were hoping to use them for listening to solo music too, then they're so-so, depending on your experience with other headphones. I don't think the quality is good enough to connect to my phone and listen to music.
