Review on Precision at Its Finest: Work Sharp WSKTS-KO-W Knife & Tool Sharpener Ken Onion Edition by Yolanda Williams

Works well as advertised!

**UPDATE** The company quickly and completely fixed the issue. It turned out to be the gearbox and they found a no fuss solution to my complete satisfaction! Within a week I was back at work and all my knives were sharp again! It meets my expectations and I am very happy with the device and the wonderful customer service I received. The technique assigned to me was excellent. The exchange works great! ----- Today I used a sharpener for the first time in a few months and found that one of the plastic rollers holding the sanding belts was broken. I have had this device for less than a year and have always been gentle and have used it very little this year. Very poor design to place fragile plastic parts where they can get hot and brittle. Terrible durability for this otherwise decent sharpener. I have only ever used the weight of the blade I sharpened, never pressed or used contrary to the instructions. There's no reason why it should have broken like that. I submitted a warranty claim to the company. I hope they live up to the warranty on this product which has never been abused and has always been treated with care. I will come back and update my review after the company responds to my query - be it positive or negative. See photos for an illustration of the defective part. I tried taking a few angles so you can see what it was doing for no apparent reason. Otherwise I like this device. I could never really learn to sharpen my knives on stone, which is always the best method. I just can't sharpen my knives like that. I know it's me and I don't have the patience to practice to get it right. I'm 44 years old and never got the hang of it, even as a Boy Scout or Scoutmaster in my adult years. This is a great "cheat" tool for sharpening knives quickly and easily. But using so many plastic parts that break is a terrible design, especially in moving areas like casters.

Pros
  • Heavy Duty Finish
Cons
  • Legacy Model
