I've always loved looking at the sky with binoculars, they have a wild field of view and a 3D feel that you don't get with a telescope looking with your eyes. A week earlier I had bought a pair of 10x50 binoculars for a tenth the price and was happy with them for quick focusing in daylight. However, to watch the sky at night, I needed something that felt deep (hard to describe). I chose the Fujinon 10x50 Polaris and had the opportunity to test it while observing the moon. The sharpness and brightness are the best I've seen compared to 4 other brands, plus there's absolutely no flare or ghosting around a bright subject. They basically have a great contrast. It took me a while to get used to the individual eye focus, but once you get the hang of it, it's quick enough to see the night sky. Later I mounted the binoculars on a camera tripod and the first impression was that the left eye had a lot of chromatic aberration. The cause was not the binoculars, but my angle of view of the eyepiece when I was standing on an uneven spot. Once both eyes are properly aligned with the eyepiece, the image will be stunning. The sense of depth with these binoculars is breathtaking. Thanks to the large depth of field, you can easily move from star to star in a constellation to find celestial objects. This makes it sharp, rich in contrast and provides depth. By far the best binoculars for sky watching I've ever had. I recommend a long chair and a tripod/prop for long-term observation as they are not light.
