The TV picture is flickering because the HDMI cable was previously sticking straight out of the back of the TV, causing it to sag and cause connection issues. Even my sling of tape to support the connection didn't work (:)), and I was afraid of bending or otherwise damaging the connection. This small adapter guides the cable down and flattens it so gravity doesn't loosen the connection. At first I thought it was defective because it wasn't working, but then I realized I hadn't tightened the connection enough. Nice tight fit - works great!
