Windows issues but otherwise great

I have yet to check this out on my YouTube channel. However, after a few months of use, I can say that the Fiio K5 Pro is a great option for those who are on a budget or just need a smaller amp/DAC. Fiio's sound signature has changed over the years. I find some of their instruments quite harsh in sound. I expected the K5 Pro to also be sharp, emphasize high frequencies and/or have a noticeable graininess. Surprisingly, the K5 Pro is fairly neutral with NO harshness or graininess. There are pricier devices that can offer a bit more detail and resolution (and of course there are MUCH more expensive alternatives that offer noticeably more detail and resolution), but for personal use the K5 Pro is pretty easy to listen to. k. There should be no doubt that the K5 Pro. This is not a product for professional use. As I said above, if you plan on using this in a recording studio you might not be impressed. But for those looking for an affordable option for everyday use, the K5 Pro offers pristine sound. The processing quality is also very good. Everything I can see and touch on the device is metal. The volume control performs an on/off function. It turns smoothly. No channel imbalance at low volume - an achievement indeed considering much more expensive alternatives still suffer. There are plenty of ports, and you can easily switch between these options by flipping a switch on the front panel. K5 Pro does not require Mac OS drivers. It's plug and play and was instantly recognized on my Mac laptop. However, there is some confusion on Windows. Fiio uses a unified driver for all of its USB DAC devices. You can download this driver from the Fiio for Windows website. When you connect the K5 Pro to a Windows computer, Windows attempts to set up the device. At first it works fine; You might even be able to connect to the K5 Pro. But if you turn off the K5 Pro after using it successfully in Windows, and then turn it back on a moment later to use it again, Windows 10 won't recognize it. I've tried different USB cables and connected the device to powered and non-powered USB hubs and different USB ports on my computer - no change. When you turn on your Windows computer, log into Windows and THEN turn on your K5 Pro. -- Windows probably won't recognize it. This issue has been documented online for other Fiio devices, and there's a comment or two on the K5. Uninstalling and reinstalling the Fiio drivers does not solve this problem. It's possible that the problem with the USB is on my particular device. But the fact that the K5 Pro works great with Mac OS makes me doubt this possible explanation. The only workaround I've found is to turn on the K5 Pro. and THEN turn on my Windows computer. When I log into Windows, the K5 Pro is recognized and I can connect. However, when I turn the K5 Pro off and on again, Windows doesn't recognize it. This can be quite frustrating for those who keep their computers on but turn off their amps/DACs between uses. There is no sign that Fiio will fix this problem. As I said before, this can be a bug in several specific devices that may not affect you. However, it is important to keep this in mind. Overall, the K5 Pro is a great option and the Windows USB bug is pretty weird. work for you
