Manufacturers are abandoning Compact Flash cards, but there are still many cameras that use them. For my Macbook I needed a USB-C card reader/hub that can read SD and CF cards. This device doesn't have a power supply, however, so it's not ideal for a Macbook with a single USB-C port. In other words, it's fine when the Macbook is fully charged, but it might not be ideal for transferring precious photos when the computer's battery is dead. So now I have two hubs, a powered USB-C hub that doesn't have a CF slot and this hub that reads CF but has no power. But there is nothing wrong with this product; problem in a port on the macbook.
