I love these flickering bulbs, but they all have the same downsides: I had to look away) and they're not bright enough to replace the light on the stem. Flickering speed seems to be a common complaint, both with these lights and the garlands of magical light I've complained about. Our Chinese friends should heed this and reduce (or regulate) the speed. They're good as distance accents - but they need to be distanced. They're cheap enough for you to experiment with. My neighbor put it in foliage which is quite spectacular.
