As a backpacker, I have always learned and experienced firsthand that most people who die in an unfortunate situation do not do so because of an accident, but because of exposure. Especially in winter. They were boxed together but in their own box. They were about the size of a couple of pop tart packs, so they could easily be stowed in a pocket or emergency bag compartment. I put them in the hydration pack sleeve of my riding/outdoor pack and they fit with no issues. I've tried a thermal blanket and this is definitely it. helped keep warm so I can only imagine this sleeping bag would work just as well. A great addition to any emergency backpack or outdoor backpack.
