The most versatile emergency item: hiking, camping, boating.

Camping: When it gets too cold or too damp, throw in a sleeping bag for extra warmth and protection. Hiking: blanket, bag, jacket and raincoat (cut a hole, stretch out your arms), also clearly visible to the rescue, boil water in it. Boating: trap the air in it, use it as a flotation device, blow it up, seal the bottom and lift it up in the air, it's seen for miles.

A must-have item for long-distance travelers!

When we live and play in the Rocky Mountains, we never go anywhere without these lightweight, yet versatile Mylar sleeping bags. We use them in conjunction with cold weather sleeping bags when temperatures drop below expected levels. We've also used them as a temporary shelter in unforeseen conditions (like hail and heavy rain). And we have them on hand in case we need them in first aid situations in the wilderness. Smart as they are, they are a worthy investment for the various applications…

New favorite cold weather camping gear addition

I used a mylar bag as a mid layer over my regular sleeping bag (an old sleeping bag that might not be rated for very cold weather) and under a fleece outer sleeping bag. Warm and cozy all night in 30 degree weather. During the day I had to turn my sleeping bag and Mylar bag inside out to dry. I didn't notice any moisture while I slept. Just a bit annoying having to redo the 3-layer setup every day after drying. but it was worth it, because I was warm at night.

Exactly what is stated!

Looks like a great product. I haven't had to use it yet and probably never will, but it's worth knowing it's there. In order to be so small and light, the bag is made of a very thin but strong enough material. I also like the packaging. Each bag is in its own zippered plastic bag and two bags are in another bag. If you order 4 you will receive 2 duplicate orders in another larger zipped bag. It is very comfortable. I throw away my old bags that are over 20 years old and replace them with this…

Great insurance point! Should be included in emergency kits.

As a backpacker, I have always learned and experienced firsthand that most people who die in an unfortunate situation do not do so because of an accident, but because of exposure. Especially in winter. They were boxed together but in their own box. They were about the size of a couple of pop tart packs, so they could easily be stowed in a pocket or emergency bag compartment. I put them in the hydration pack sleeve of my riding/outdoor pack and they fit with no issues. I've tried a thermal…

They are well suited for winter camping with some limitations.

We bought these waterproof Mylar bags to take with us on our November hike. My husband and our two boys wore them over their sleeping bags to keep the cold breeze from reaching us at night. The first night the temperature dropped to 32 degrees but we stayed relatively warm in our mylar covered sleeping bags. Even my feet were warm. The first night the inside of the Mylar bags were sweaty and the outside of our bags were wet. If the outside of the bag is wet, the inside is damp at best. By the…
