Nice item, suitable for cold water or hot tea

I have hesitated to use it for what I wanted to do with it: make sweet tea. As I poured boiling water into this fragile glass jar, I held my breath, thinking it would break. However, this did not happen. I've brewed sweet tea in it several times before using it to infuse flavored water and ended up leaving it in my bathroom for a glass of filtered water first thing in the morning. He'll come back into the kitchen in the summer, make me more sweet tea, and I can buy another one for the bathroom. I read that some people had such splinters. I temper the jar first by turning on the hottest faucet I can get until the jar is fully heated, then pour boiling water in and swirl it around to get the jar even hotter. Afterwards, I am filled with ruthless selflessness. I got this trick from a magazine that said teapots should be "tempered" by swirling boiling water inside them. It helps me. I accidentally hit it a few times, very gently, and it didn't break. However, I consider this vessel fragile and treat it like a grandmother's crystal: carefully and with the utmost care. Owning things means keeping them, and sometimes it means special treatment for potentially temperamental things. Not what it says on the box but it's dishwasher safe but that's it. The lid goes up and does not disassemble. Make sure you screw it on properly so it doesn't retain water.
